I moved to Asheville for a few different reasons; the main one being that it was progressive in the arts. This is always a great idea from far away but arriving into an art scene that is already pretty full-on and inundated was something I was unfamiliar with.
I know I am a talented, driven, creative artist.
I've also been in the business of art for many years so I'm also jaded (a bit) and because of this - specific about my intentions.
I came to Asheville knowing I was going to have to work hard to get to where I wanted to be relatively quickly. I was also overwhelmed. New town, new vibe, and the "new artist" in town realization.
I researched and kinda spend my time taking this town in. Finding the perfect place to show these works (that are so near and dear to my heart.) I needed the energy of the space, and the intention of it, to relate to me and my work.
Aside from the fact that it is, hands down, my favorite and most visited place in town; 5 Walnut won - easy. 35% of the sales goes to a charity of choice. They put the money back into the community and back into the arts and there's just something to be said about the kind of energy that extends into the universe. It's where I want to be with my work and my ability to communicate the importance of the healing power of art.
So excited for this opportunity and also to be able to share in it with a city, town, community and arts vibe that I love! Thanks Asheville, 5 Walnut....let's cheers to a good show. See you there. xo
