This guy, the original hipster, known for his comedy, his hot dog obsession, a flea market connoisseur (his presence always an easy crowd find marked by his blue hat) is the reason for my art. Obituary for Thomas J. Hugues
Thomas J. Hugues, age 84 of Dorchester, passed away, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at his residence, after a long illness.
Tom is survived by his wife Marie; son Scott and wife Stefanie, son Thomas and wife Gale, daughter Alicia and husband Shelby, daughter Maryanne, son Christopher, and daughters, Susan and Patricia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Ashley, Katie, Isaac and Ella; his great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Rocco and Atlas; and many nieces and nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and James; brothers, James and John; sister Elizabeth; and grandson Rocco.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Tom resided in Dorchester. He retired from IBM Corporation as a Customer Service Engineer. He was a proud member of the US Air Force, and he was a member of the Parish of All Saints in Millville.
Tom knew someone everywhere he went. He enjoyed his passion for auctions, flea markets and garage sales, and he was always recognized by his blue hat and his customary greeting "yello".
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad Street, Millville. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS, 66675, or to the charity of one's choice.
